Slinging Mud

Thank goodness we have “difficult councillors” prepared to ask the questions we need answers to. The Gloves are off !! A piece on Global TV’s website includes the following.

“After months of speculation, longtime Baie-D’Urfé Mayor Maria Tutino announced that she is running for re-election this November … She ticked off a list of reasons why she chose to run, and the last one was that “one of the difficult councillors decided to run for mayor”. … Fletcher told Global News the mayor was “slinging mud”. Fletcher is calling for greater transparency in town affairs, such as live-streaming council meetings, and better management of the town’s public works budget.”

    1. The mudslinging comment was said by the candidate in question, not by this site. It’s a quote. Personally, I am sure she does think he is “difficult” but that’s what people elected him to be four years ago … as they elected all the other councillors. Their job is to openly question and examine and worry about the details of policy decisions so that when they go to a vote everyone (that’s us, out here, the electorate) can see why what the arguments are. Sometimes it’s very hard for citizens to discover the pros and cons of many decisions and I and many others are heartily glad there are “difficult” representatives at the table to ask the questions and be listened to.

  1. By the way “Tom Paine” – Citizen Marat welcomes you to the hustings 🙂

Might we remind you of something you said a long, long time ago “He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.” You also said “A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right.” We are all in this together and hoping for the best outcome.
